Benromach Distillery

Personal view:

Benromach is the smalles working distillery of Speyside. It is now owned by the famous independent bottler Gordon&MacPhail (Elgin). They completely rebuilt the distillery - the old machinery was mostly unusable or destroyed.
Just two men make the whisky - "the pace is a little slower here" - "we take our time, checking each stage by hand, personally ensuring only the highest quality spirit is filled into hand selected oak casks..." A convincing self-portrayal.

Shopping and tour:

In the visitor centre we had an interesting tasting with personal talks. We bought one bottle of the very new release Benromach classical, which is completely made in the renewed distillery process. (The older bottlings are from casks of the older style Benromach, while the new modernized Benromach process should resemble the very old original Speyside style.)
