Ardbeg Distillery

It was the afternoon of a long Sunday on Islay. We had seen much already, but not so much as I had hoped, because some of my favourites were closed on the weekend. Ardbeg finally was open. They run a tavern inside the distillery buildings. The smell of meals mixed up with the varying smells of whisky making, a somewhat dubious experience. The rooms and the shop looked really lovely. The outside is in good shape - like every distillery, even like almost any house on appearently prosporous isle of Islay.

We have the 10-year Ardbeg at home, the other bottlings available in the shop were too expensive for our budget.
