Thank you very much for you article on configuring WEP with WMP11 cards. I finally got it to work on Suse 8.1. I am using the latest version of linux-wlan-ng (0.1.16-pre8). The part where you had authtype as open, i changed to sharedkey--as it should be. The other deal was the keys... nwkeygen does not work. I used the key values from the Windows WMP11cfg util.

I hope that this helps you as you have helped me.

well, i use rh 8 an nearly everything works, except for sound (i don\'t really know about usb20 (1.1 devices work), irda, wlan, fw too, but yet i don\'t mind) which i wanted to get working...

du hast ,mir deine Karte gegeben, also du das in Darmstadt mit Monika warst.
ich finde die Fotogalerie richtig profesionell, ganz tolle bilder, auch die ruine würde ich am liebsten mal vor ort besichtigen. kann man so was auch als laie lernen (als computer unerfahrene person?)

Coole Seite.
128 APs in 1h?? Wo geht das, muß ich auch mal testen.
Die neuere Firmware, die in der WLAN-Liste geistert funzt auch beim X5.
Damit hat sich auch das USBdevfs-Problem gelöst.

Ich verwende Suse 8.1 auf einem Gericom X5 force. Alles laeuft so weit super, bis auf die eingebaute WLAN Karte.

Ich habe noch nie einen Kernel kompiliert, aber deinen Artikel gelesen, wie man diese Karte zum laufen bringt. Ich bin schon etwas verzweifelt, das ich diese Ding nicht zum laufen bekomme, aber vielleicht kannst Du mir ja weiterhelfen.

Es waere wirklich nett, wenn Du mir genauere Instuktionen geben koenntest, was ich nacheinander durchfuehren muss, um zum Ziel zu gelangen.

Hallo There,

Many thanks for putting such a wonderful site together.

I originally surfed in to look at the Large Format camera making because I\'d like to have a medium format camera using roll film and possibly Polaroid \"peel-apart\" film packs, without giving my bank manager a coronary. OK I know, there\'s either the Mamiya Press, or else the Polaroid. I have a Mamiya Press, but so far I haven\'t found a Polaroid back for it yet, and the last Polaroid 600 [?] camera I saw went for a lot more money than I could afford.

So it looks like I need to make a smaller edition of your \"formicula 2\" I started work as a \"Fitter\" here in the UK with a company making large steam turbine electricity generating equipment and power transformers. At about 20 I got tired with that and switched to instrumentation and control systems. Since then I\'ve only had one more job, and I was \"retired early\" after a stroke, after nearly 25 years with them. Photography helped me get over the worst of my condition, and now I want to progress hence my interest in your website.

war auf der suche nach guten wlan-tutorial für linux (habe redhat9 auf meinem thinkpad 570 laufen, mit einer orinoco gold) und bin dabei auf deine seite gestossen und etwas hängengeblieben ;)

hab dann noch deine wardriving-experience gesehn und beim ansen der karte dachte ich mir: hey, die stadt kenn ich doch - das is doch linz! ;)

da ich auch in linz wohne, werd ich zum testen meiner installation das ganze mal ausprobieren - nur am heimischen AP kommt zum \'testen\' keine freude auf.

Hallo - und echt recht vielen Dank für diese Seite!!
Ich hab mir SuSE 8.2 besorgt und wie bei Ihnen auf einem Gericom X5force installiert.
Mit dem Sound war ich auch echt unzufrieden, aber danke der Tipps bin ich zuversichtlich, dass man das irgendwie in den Griff kriegen kann (auch wenn mir als kompletter Newbie noch völlig unklar ist wie…).

Der Lösungsvorschlag mit der 3D Aktivierung hat mir auch sehr geholfen und dank Ihrer Tipps konnte ich das Problem schnell lösen.

Dieser Bericht stimmt mich ziemlich zuversichtlich, dass es für alle meine Probleme eine Lösung geben wird. Und dafür bin ich echt dankbar!

Cool gemacht das ganze und sicher hilfreich, zumindest inspirierend!
Bin echt begeistert von der Seite und wollte das nur kurz mitteilen.

Auch die anderen Seiten sind mehr als einen Besuch wert und haben schon einen Eintrag in meinen Favoriten verdient ;-)

Dank Ihrer Seite bin ich auf die Idee gekommen eine Großformat Kamera
zubauen. Vor ungefähr 6 Monaten startete ich mit ersten Versuchen.
Daraus wurde letztendlich eine 9 x 12 Kamera.
Bisher hatte ich mit Fotografie nichts am Hut, jedoch jetzt scheint es sich zu

I found your page searching for wlan-ng commands. I got my Netgear wireless MA401 working in SUSE 8.1 with Orinoco drivers. Then I installed SUSE 8.2, which used wlan-ng. I could not find the correct commands to set the card, as \"ifup\" will commands are rejected by SUSE 8.2. I can get the access point and DCHP, but the card comes up with \"default\" settings and my efforts to change that have all failed. So -- no encryption!

I note you recompiled the SUSE kernel. Perhaps you could list the steps. I recompiled the Mandrake kernel several times -- but someone had given me step-by-step instructions. I have discovered the steps for different kernels may be different. For instance, Mandrake used a RAM image and my Icepack linux install did not.

Well, I am off to try the wlan-ng commands. Thank you for posting them (along with your excellent overview of your computer history).

hab mich mal wieder auf eurer Seite umgesehen. Das mit Tina ist natürlich sehr schade. Oder habt ihr inzwischen wieder was von ihr gehört? Bei uns tauchte eine Zeit lang Nachbars Kater Brutus (was für ein Name *schüttel*)immer wieder auf bis er dann wegen Lungentumor eingeschläfert werden musste. Ein sehr neugieriges Viech. Eines Tages stand er plötzlich bei uns (also Jens und mir) im Flur. Seitdem kam er öfters weil es Leckerlis bei uns gab. :-) Hat dann auch jedesmal eine Runde durch die Wohnung gedreht um zu schauen, ob noch alles an seinem Platz steht (auch in den Schränken!).
Also wenn ich eure Bar sehe.... herrlich! Sieht klasse aus und der Inhalt ist bestimmt auch nicht zu verachten. ;-))

Could you tell me what exactly you downloaded from the net to get xine to work when you installed Suse 9.1. I\'ve had no success with this player, and I see all sorts of suggestions on what to do, including simply uninstalling all the xine packages in the Suse distro, and just starting over with net downloads.
